Valentine is the fourteenth episode in the first season of The Secret Circle. It aired on February 9, 2012, attracting 1.82 million viewers and was the first Valentine's Day special of the series.

Summary[]

Faye and Melissa celebrate Valentine's Day by hosting a girls-only, anti-Valentine's Day slumber party with Cassie and Diana. The night takes an unexpected turn when Melissa offers Diana some "Devil's Spirit". This causes Diana to open up to Lee, who crashes the party to help Faye increase her own power. Cassie seeks the help of Adam and Jake after she becomes haunted by the spirits of some witches.

Plot[]

Wanting to celebrate an anti-Valentine's Day, Faye decides to hold a girls-only slumber party and invites the rest of the girls from the Circle. But first Jake has to clear out of Faye's bed.

Cassie is being stalked by a mysterious hooded figure that only she can see.She goes to Jake for help, explaining the symbol she spotted on the figure's robe. Jake recognizes the symbol as being from the Nidaros Coven, a group of witches who were killed off many years ago. This means that Cassie's being haunted by ghosts. Lee gives Faye an odd little Valentine's Day gift: a small voodoo doll which Diana accidentally breaks when she comes over for the slumber party. Meanwhile, Melissa and Diana take some Devil's Spirit and then decide to order pizza. They also decide to use magic to make sure the pizza delivery guy is hot. The pizza guy turns out to be Lee. Diana, who is still high on the magical drug, ends up kissing him.

Cassie arrives at Faye's house and her father's medallion is wrecking havoc on the festivities. They play with a Ouija board and it sends a mysterious message to the Circle. It's clear that Cassie's ghosts and the medallion are connected somehow. Jake speaks with Isaac, the leader of the witch hunters about John Blackwell's medallion and the Nidaros Coven. Isaac says that John used the medallion to destroy the coven, and Isaac tells Jake that he wants the medallion and its power. Jake tries to warn Cassie about the medallion, but she's being continually hounded by the ghosts.

The ghosts lead her into a chuch, the same church where her father killed the coven off, and they surround her. Jake and Adam rush to the rescue, but as Adam goes into the church, the ghosts possess him and force him to slit his own wrists. In order to break the ghosts's hold on Adam, Cassie destroys the medallion. Jake takes the broken medallion pieces and delivers them to Isaac.

Meanwhile Adam and Cassie are at the Boathouse and their share a kiss. However, back at the slumber party, things aren't going well with Melissa. Something is draining her powers, and that something happens to be Lee, who is trying to revive his comatose girlfriend. Lastly, we find out that John Blackwell is alive and has returned to Chance Harbor.

This is the first episode that recognizes Chris Zylka as a main character. His previous appearances were credited as guest roles.
This is the last appearance of Isaac.
This episode also marks the first appearance of the previously only mentioned Eva and John Blackwell.
The girls using magic to summon a handsome pizza delivery boy is similar to the game played in the books, except that in the books they used magic to seduce the delivery boy.
